Behind the Scenes at Canopy

Since Day One of it's opening, the Canopy art complex on Austin's eastside has been home to Metropolitan Gallery headquarters. As an art consulting firm, we couldn't ask for a more inspiring place to work.

Back in 2013, MG was operating out of a space on East 6th street and feeling the itch to move someplace larger. Mia, ever on the hunt for spaces to place creative and imaginative works or spaces in which to do a bunch of imagining and creating herself, caught wind of a new development in the works nearby. What was originally a Goodwill sorting facility on Springdale Road would soon be transformed into a hot bed of artistic inspiration.

We have since been surrounded by dozens of artists studios, collective creative spaces, galleries, and boutiques. Our Canopy home has given us the luxury of finding high quality artwork just outside our doors, as well as granted us many opportunities to be involved with the growing artist community in Austin. We have been the at the center of the East Austin Studio Tour, featured the first annual group exhibition for our neighbors, and connected our design industry partners more intimately with the artists we work along side.

To come to work each day and share a work space with such a creative group has been vastly inspirational and essential to our business.
